On Thursday, September 7 we inaugurated the exhibition Between Dreams & Southern Shades by Liesbeth Willaert. Belgian artist living in Barcelona for 2 years. His work stands out for the abundance of colors, specific bright palettes and the contrast between organic and graphic forms. To add depth, Liesbeth easily integrates other materials like sand, metal, paper, fabric and stone powders onto the canvas, adding layers and textures in this way.
All paintings are based on an impulse to express the internal in an intuitive way. The final painting is the result of aggregate layers of different inner states of mind. Contrast within the painting is often due to a deliberate break inside the process in order to proceed with another interior state. As such, when a painting is definitive we could speak of an accomplished “inner journey”, a kind of “journey.” The style of her art is described as “lyrical abstract” or how she likes to name it “Color (e) scapes “(Color breaks). His works aim to connect, reveal and inspire.+info
