“Plush toys, lots of objects (accumulations), sandboxes full of eggs … Rey offers us a tour of” his little monsters “, to which he sometimes speaks to them. The title of the exhibition “I stole it from a journalist who describes the characters that Jane Arbus photographed, the madmen of the asylums, the obsession of a life”, and continues spinning the discourse of her work clarifying that, for her, “Many things are little monsters, when we were little my mother called us little monsters, many little monsters everywhere”, and she does not hesitate to recognize, finally, that she has the conviction of having become one of them.
Rey does not move away from his concepts developed in previous solo works or in collective exhibitions. On this occasion, there is no lack of accumulations either. Lots of objects that we stack together or that accumulate spontaneously, make up one more of their inspirations. In this way, their sandboxes emerge with dozens of eggs (sure heirs of other accumulations of clothes or plastic ducklings) that rival in colors and textures with their unarmed and re-sewn plushies, this time on canvases, crushed according to the artist, developed surely”.
