The exhibition of Joan Ponç in Galeria Eude coincides with the anthology dedicated to him by the Fundació Catalunya – La Pedrera.
In the 70’s Eude held three exhibitions of this artist: “Joan Ponç. Obra gràfica “(1976 and 1978) and” Devoraciones “, illustrating the book of the same name by Luis Goytisolo (1977).
Joan Ponç (Barcelona, 1927 – Saint-Paul-de-Vence, 1984) was a self-taught artist who, in his youth, contacted a minority of young people resistant to the moral and cultural misery of the dictatorship. The result was the founding of the magazine Dau al Set, together with Brossa, Cuixart, Arnau Puig, Tàpies and Tharrats. A few years later he founded the school L’Espai in Sao Paulo dedicated to the teaching of drawing and painting.
In this exhibition we try to show a creative, original and unique Ponç that, despite all the adversities he suffered in his life, shows a certain irony, optimism and light of hope.
The exhibition complements three photographs by Pilar Aymerich and a video showing a fragment of the interview Montserrat Roig made to the artist in 1979.
