UtopiaMarkets Illustration celebrates its first edition the weekend of October 20, 21 and 22, 2017, after the success of the editions of UtopiaMarkets Photo and UtopiaMarkets Poetry.
On the same weekend, the market will bring together some seventy illustrators, who will sell their work directly to the public. This experience aims to support the talent and creativity of the collective of the illustration, and is addressed to a wide audience, both specialists or lovers of the illustration as well as people interested in a different cultural and leisure offer in the city. It will be a unique opportunity to discover, browse, converse and buy directly from the author original work or serial print.
Among the seventy illustrators involved will be authors such as Miguel Gallardo, Clàudia Vives-Fierro, Javier Mariscal, Meritxell Durán, Flavita Banana, Raquel Díaz Reguera, Laia Arqueros, Pablo Caracol, Arianne Faber, Celeste Ciafarone, Afrique Fanlo, Dalmaus, Ilich Roimeser, Elsy Sánchez, Carmen Segovia, Luisa Vera, Pol Montserrat, Josep Gómez-Guixà, Laura Klamburg, Javirroyo, Claudia Abbad, Laia Armengol, Anastasia Bengochea, Santi González, Marcos Isamat, La Favorita, LuciLá, Carlota Marquina, José Luis Merino, Julien Missiaen, Manuel Molvar, Clara Mur, Mariona Omedes, Gabriel Salvadó, Martín Tognola, Josep Maria Vallès, Irene Vidal, Luisa Vera or Jean Claude Bouthier, among others, as well as several agents related to the field of illustration city like Oslo Graphic Barceloneta.
During the three days, in addition to the market, a full program of activities will be offered, which will welcome, among other initiatives, dialogues, workshops and projections. These activities will be announced in the coming weeks. The public will also have a gastronomic area.
UtopiaMarkets Illustration is part of the UtopiaMarkets project, three markets dedicated to photography, poetry and illustration that are held annually for three weekends at Utopia126, a modernist factory converted into a unique space in the Poblenou neighborhood.
In June of 2016 UtopiaMarkets was born with the first edition of Photo, which repeated in March of this year followed by the first Poetry market. All of them were well received by the public. Now, with the first edition of the Illustration market, the cycle of this year is closed.
The aim of the project is to reclaim the talent and creativity of the city in these three groups, giving them greater visibility and opening them up to a wider audience.
It is an initiative of Montse Abbad, Quique Camín and Oscar Vallés, which has the collaboration of Antxón Gómez and a large group of accomplices. UtopiaMarkets Illustration has the support of Enric Aguilera, Miguel Angel Casares, Karin Du Croo, Miguel Gallardo, Inés García-Albi, Javier Mariscal and Philippe Rouger.
It receives the main collaboration of the Fundació Banc Sabadell, the sponsorship of Gramona and Hotel Alma Barcelona, the collaboration of Estrella Damm, Vueling, Cafés Magnífico and Sans & Sans, in addition to the support of Fundació Catalunya Cultura.
