More info about Christof Vetsch:
Christof Vetsch has only developed his artistic work in the past few years, which does not mean that he is an outsider. On the contrary, during his whole life he was at the pulse of contemporary culture, from his studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule Basel, where he completed the preliminary course and another year in the graphic arts class, to intensive months in 1980 with Anna Halprin at Tamalpa Dancers Workshop. He moved from Basel to Zurich and worked as a graphic artist, then he took over the role of cultural agent and took over the “Plattenladen Halbstanz”, which later became Vibes, which in turn became a shop with vintage furniture and objects
His paintings make everyday objects on subjects ranging from simple, almost abstract still life to intimate little dramas. In addition to assemblages, he works with photographic documenting of objects, situations and productions, which are then added to emotional / minimal images.
In these, he frees the life of the objects from trite clichés, in order to open up further contexts and at the same time undermine premature interpretation.
His works show both maturity and new found joy in unhindered experimentation, the ability to embrace humor and tragedy.
