When Piär Amrein uses and processes “waste”, a new product is created that is unmistakably different from the found raw material. The end of the usefulness of an object in daily life is often the beginning of a new existence in a counterworld, in which curiosity, dream, and ironic criticism develop an aesthetic that undermines a normalized view of the original articles of use.
Piär’s work is the playful, dreamy and yet reflective approach to a reality that is not accepted as final but seen as a manifest potential among many. The right to conceive and create other realities, fictions and utopias can not be carried out.
